He is also survived by six grandchildren; Jeniene Smoot, Carla Ervin, Jeremy Boston, Tara Garland, Casey Robinson and Caitlin Weeks, and seven great-grandchildren; Josh Hardin, Cody Hardin, Alicia Garland, Tyler Smoot, Leah Smoot, Sophia Garland and Annalee Ervin. He was born March 16, 1929, to Ralph and Mallie Simmons.
